Watchful Eye

Under the Watchful Eye of Queen Charlotte II

The very talented Deborah Langsam has done it again. Using photographs of historic Charlotte printed on fabric, she creates stunning quilts which, from a distance, appear to be photos themselves.

In describing her amazing piece Deborah writes: People and places that have shaped Charlotte come under the photo mosaic "eye" of Queen Charlotte, the city's namesake. Debbie's art was part of the Charlotte Quilters' Guild show last weekend.

Each tiny square is a mere one-half inch.

If you're a native Charlottean like my dh, you'll be able to identify many of the photos. The image is clickable.

Last fall I purchased one of Deborah's smaller pieces depicting The Penguin, my son and daughter-in-law's favorite restaurant. It was framed and presented to them at Christmas. They were thrilled.
